Land Art of Hamish Fulton

Hamish Fulton's work can be found in multiple visual art forms, walking around the world and interacting with nature and the land. It is important to note, however, that these visual representations are not perceived as artworks, as he states that walking itself is an art form. Through the texts, photographs and the mountain motifs displayed all over the walls, I could wonder what we could find in the dialogue between him and the land he walks on. He seems to define himself as anything other than a walking artist, because his own "dialogue" is there, independent of any particular ideology. He also describes his work as a gentle protest against urban society's alienation of humans from the natural world. I am able to reaffirm the relationship between nature and man when I look at his work from the perspective of 'faith'.
